Fellowship Of The Body

That I Might Not Sin Against You

At U-Turn For Christ Texas, all of our counsel and direction comes from the Word of God.  We believe that the Bible gives us everything we need to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.  Reading, teaching, and memorizing scripture are the foundation of our ministry.

The root cause of addiction is sin, therefore in order to have freedom from addiction, we must obtain freedom from sin.  The first step, of course, is to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ.  We must believe that He died on the cross for our sin and rose from the grave three days later.  By His perfect sacrifice we have peace with God, allowing His Holy Spirit to dwell inside of us and transform our lives into the image of His Son.

This process of sanctification takes place as we read the Bible and meditate on it.  The more we allow God’s Word to change and form our thinking, the less desire we will have for sin.

 Your word I have
hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

The process of memorizing scripture and hiding it in our hearts can be a long and difficult journey.  But this is a journey well worth taking.  The Word of God has the power to give use true freedom from addiction and sin, and allows us to live life the way that God intended for us to live.  Continue to pray that we would be effective in sowing the seed into the hearts of these men.

Day of the Child Outreach

At the end of April, we had the opportunity to partner with Regalos De Amor in Nuevo Laredo, MX for their “Dia Del Nino” (Day of the Child) outreaches.  This year (due to COVID restrictions still in place in MX) we went door-to-door in two colonias (neighborhoods) handing out giftbags and sharing the Gospel with the children and their families.  Not only did the children get to hear about the love of Jesus, they also received a physical representation of God’s love for them through the knick-knacks, toys and candy in the giftbags.

It was humbling to see people living in such poor conditions, yet there was so much joy when they received their gift and heard the Good News!

Blessings From Pennsylvania

In March and April, we were blessed to have two men from the U-Turn in Lebanon, PA come all the way to Texas.  Their objective was to help us with construction on the ranch after the ice-storm we experienced in February.  While they were here, we got  the ranch operational again, and we were also able to do some much needed remodeling.  The bathroom in the director’s living space has been completely remodeled, including a new sub-structure for the shower.  Although we did not finish building our new kitchen, we made tremendous progress.  All of the electrical, plumbing and drywall are done.  We just need to install the tile floor and find cabinets and appliances.

At the end of their stay here, we followed our brothers back to Pennsylvania and spent two weeks serving with U-Turn For Christ PA and learning how they run their ministry.  I am learning more everyday that while we do primarily minister to men caught in addiction, this ministry is focused more on the solution, that is Jesus Christ.  We are learning how to live disciplined, godly lives, and showing others how to do the same.

We look forward to  partnering and fellowshipping with our brothers in U-Turn For Christ Pennsylvania for many years to come.
